The Hundred Years War was fought by these rulers, who struggled to maintain their hold on French soil after conquering Britain. Even months later, I cannot stop raving about our time in Sarlat and our favorite part was kayaking the Dordogne and visiting Le Jardins de Marqueyssac. You can complete this stretch in about 1/2 day depending on how fast you paddle. What recommends this point is the fact that from here you will see the most beautiful of the castles along the Dordogne concentrated along a fairly short stretch of the river. There are several places where you can launch a canoe or small boat into the beautiful Dordogne.
